SECOND LIFE!

I actually bumped into a link that brought me to more information about second life EVEN BEFORE people started talking about it. I was so curious about what it was that i downloaded it and started making my own characters. It was quite fun but also quite irritating because when you changed the characters clothing, it took a very long time for it to be seen on the characters body. I was also initially confused by all the jumping to different destinations because everything felt so alien. Speaking of feeling 'alien', i think being a character on second life feels rather lonely. HAHA! Except for the part where you can earn money.. =)

Well, Second life is pretty much a 3D virtual world, as explained by its name, its a replica of real life and everything that goes on in it is so realistic and just like real life that it even has repercussions in the real world. Its a place where people socialize, connect, trade services etc.

History of the Internet!

History & Evolution of the Internet

The year 1836 revolutionalised human telecommunications where Morse code was used to communicate between humans. A few years after that invention of the Transatlantic cable allowed communication to reach other parts of the world such as across the Atlantic. Later on, telephones were invented which then contributed to the backbone of the interenet today. Science and technology then became even morie advanced giving the internet the opportunity of reaching across the globe. Sputnik, the first articial satellite was launched by modern day Russia, making it easy for military use. In the early 1960s, Packet Switching networks were developed where data was split into tiny packets to me transmitted to different destinations. As a result, the Internet was officially born in 1969. Ever since people have communicated over networks and also allowing them easy and free access over time.

The Future of the Internet

Ever since the birth of the Internet, the Internet has been of much use to the world, making
it one of the world's most important technology. Today, there are billions of people who utilize the Internet for different uses such as communicating one on one using IM (instant messaging), sending out emails, starting businesses online and even like this, doing homework online! The future of the Internet still remains bright, where tonnes of opportunities await for the internet to be accessible in all sorts of circumstances and situations.

We have the internet available through us by many options, by our

home networks, schoolnetworks, through wireless connection and

broadband etc. We can also use it anytime we want because today, the

internet is also asscessible through mobile phones and PDAs. Perhaps

in the future, it is even possible that we can surf the Internet on our
Ipods or any other Mp3 players. The possibilities are endless.

Web as a Social Media?

The Web has definitely become the means through which social interactions are made and networks are built. Media such as friendster, facebook, myspace etc has allowed this phenomenon to become not only very profitable but also very popular among different populations around the world. Connecting to an old long lost friend or making new ones is not a problem anymore. The web as a social media has indeed benefited the rest of the world and also as people individually. Today, social media is not just about connecting to friends, it also becomes a place for sharing wide arrays of information to one another. Facebook, for example, has included iTunes in as one of the applications in its program so that users can share information about their favourite songs or the latest tracks to one another. Therefore, the web as a social media has not only connected people worldwide but has also made itself a great fortune not only in terms of profit but also in terms of a bright future.
